Home Inspectors Are Not Code Inspectors
Ever wonder what the difference is between a Home Inspector and a county Code Inspector?
Home inspectors assess the condition of a home’s systems and components at the time of the inspection. Their primary goal is to inform clients about the current state of a home, identifying any potential issues or areas of concern. Code inspectors, on the other hand, enforce building codes and standards during construction or remodeling projects to ensure compliance with local regulations.
In other words you hire a home inspector to help you with your build process, home purchase or sale, as well as insurance inspections to name a few. A county code inspector, while can be considered helpfull, isn't typically who you call to "inspect" a property unless you require the power of forcability. Home inspectors do not have the authority to enforce building codes. Their role is to evaluate and report, not to mandate repairs or changes. Code inspectors have the legal authority to require corrections if they find code violations.
Clients rely on home inspectors to provide expert advice. An inspector who understands the nuances of building codes and standards is seen as more knowledgeable and trustworthy. This expertise can set them apart in the industry and help build a strong reputation. As always please reach out to Florida Home Inspector Services, LLC. for all your inspection needs.
